Opportunities abound for international attendees at CHEST 2016

July 19, 2016 by CHEST Guest Writer

CHEST 2016 will act as a strategic platform to offer deeper insights on the latest trends in the research, therapy, and management of pulmonary, critical care, and sleep disorders through interactive sessions and plenary lectures that will assist physicians in providing the best care to their patients. It’s an ideal learning environment for chest medicine professionals from around the world.

Almost 7 million international tourists visited Los Angeles last year, and CHEST hopes to add to that number by rolling out the red carpet to health-care professionals around the world for the 2016 annual meeting. Here are some reasons to make the extra effort to attend this year’s Los Angeles-based CHEST, even if you’re not based in North America:

Opportunity for European Health-care Professionals

In an attempt to encourage cooperation, the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) and the European Board for Accreditation in Cardiology (EBAC) have reached an agreement to declare that their accreditation systems are equal. This means that, for the first time, EBAC will recognize certificates obtained by European physicians who attend CHEST. There are a number of CME opportunities at CHEST, and a list of sessions by category can be found here. This time there will be no trouble obtaining recognition from EBAC.

Opportunity for Networking

Collaboration and cooperation are the theme, and after a successful CHEST World Congress in Shanghai, China, earlier this year, CHEST has never been a more diverse or connected organization of health-care professionals around the world. Share your ideas, learn new techniques, and discover amazing opportunities to work with colleagues from around the world.

FCCP Means Quality and Commitment

No matter where you are from if you have the designation of FCCP behind your name, it shows that you are at the top of your field and committed to the best possible care for your patients. Earning my Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians was an important milestone in my career, and I encourage chest medicine professionals from around the world to attend the convocation ceremony during CHEST 2016. Support your colleagues as they enter into a community that knows no borders. Thinking about earning your FCCP? Get FCCP information so you can get started, and CHEST membership can help you along the way.
