Introducing Two New CHEST 2016 Clinician Educator Awards

Two new awards recognizing the achievements and contributions of clinician educators who have made significant contributions to CHEST activities will be granted at CHEST 2016. Both honors will be awarded during Sunday’s opening session at CHEST 2016 in Los Angeles. Submit your nominations now.

CHEST 2016
The Early Career Clinician Educator Award recognizes the achievements of a clinician educator within 7 years of practice, who has already made significant contributions to CHEST activities and is committed to continuing to expand their growth in medical education. The Master Clinician Educator Award recognizes the career-long achievements of a leader within the organization who has demonstrated their dedication to furthering medical education through contributions to CHEST and beyond.

Nominations will be accepted through Monday, August 29, 2016. Awardees will be notified of acceptance by the end of September. If you have a question regarding the nomination process, please contact TJ Williams.

Master Clinician Educator Award

  • CHEST member and fellow (FCCP) in good standing
  • 20 or more years of clinical practice
  • Service as CHEST faculty or chair in a minimum of at least three types of events (eg, CHEST Annual Meeting/World Congress, Board Review courses, SEEK, Live Learning/Simulation, e-Learning, or PREP) in the past 5 years
  • Service on a CHEST Committee, NetWork steering committee, subcommittee, or workgroup
  • Dedication to educational outcomes demonstrated through the conduct of educational research or publication of educational outcomes
  • Commitment to education demonstrated outside of CHEST through activities in work setting, other volunteer efforts, and consulting work

Self-nominations and nominations of others both accepted.

The form should include:

  • Statement of interest highlighting key contributions to CHEST and key achievements, work, and areas of interest in education
  • Submission of current CV
  • If self-nominating, contact information for a CHEST Leadership member (Board member, committee member, subcommittee member, workgroup member) to serve as a reference—if nominating someone else, your own contact information

Early Career Clinician Educator Award

  • CHEST member and fellow (FCCP) in good standing
  • 7 years or less since completion of Fellowship
  • Service as CHEST faculty or chair in a minimum of at least two types of events (eg, CHEST Annual Meeting/World Congress, Board Review courses, SEEK, Live Learning/Simulation, e-Learning, or PREP) in the past 3 years
  • Contributions to a minimum of three CHEST Annual Meeting sessions over the past 5 years
  • Commitment to education demonstrated outside of CHEST through activities in work setting, other volunteer efforts, and consulting work

Self-nominations and nominations of others both accepted.

  • Statement of interest highlighting key contributions to CHEST, key achievements and future plans in the area of education, and areas of interest and growth
  • Submission of current CV
  • If self-nominating, contact information for a CHEST Leadership member (Board member, committee member, subcommittee member, workgroup member) to serve as a reference—if nominating someone else, your own contact information

The Early Career Clinician Educator Award will be presented during CHEST Challenge at CHEST 2016 in Los Angeles. There will be an option to develop an educational activity proposal with the Education Committee for next year, subject to approval.
