Game on. Spotlight on the CHEST Challenge Finalists

Have you ever thought how the CHEST Challenge finalists prepare? What does it take to win the competition?

Over 40 fellows from 12 training programs took part in an online game earlier this year. The top three teams got a bid to the CHEST Annual Meeting to partake in the CHEST Challenge Championships, a Jeopardy-style format live game show.

Who will take the title this year? Come and find who will take the title this year on Tuesday, October 25, at 8:45 am in West Hall A.  Here’s a look at the the top three teams.

Team Interfaith:

How are you preparing for this year’s CHEST Challenge finals?

We are going through ATS and CHEST board review books and videos. We go through latest articles in major journals related to pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine.

Who do you think your biggest competitor is?

We are expecting a neck-to-neck competition among three participating teams. We believe University of Arizona is bigger competitor.

It would be a tiger.

What would be your team cheer?

“One team, One dream!”

If you win, how are you celebrating?

If we win, we will thank our faculty. We will go out for dinner and have a drink with the team.

What are you looking forward to the most at CHEST 2016?

We are looking forward to having excellent results in chest challenge. We are eager to know about new developments in field of pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine. It is an excellent opportunity  for networking. We will explore Los Angeles.

How are you preparing for this year’s CHEST Challenge finals?

Our team is preparing by studying like crazy!!! They actually may know a hair more than they did a few months ago. One of the team members is also studying for his Pulmonary Board exam on October 5th, and he has been particularly stressed out on Red Bull and caffeine.

Who do you think your biggest competitor is?

We feel that our biggest competitors are ourselves!!

New York Methodist HospitalIf you could chose a team mascot what would it be?

In true Brooklyn spirit our team mascot is Don Vito Corleone, also known as “The Godfather.”

What would be your team cheer?

Being from Brooklyn, our team cheer (clearly) is: “Fugetaboutit.”
Translation: The subject (our team) is unequivocally excellent; further thought and analysis are superfluous!!!

If you win, how are you celebrating?

Victory (fully expected) will be met with a celebration more apt for a liver conference.

What are you looking forward to the most at CHEST 2016?

We are most looking forward to triumphantly raising the championship trophy and the ensuing celebration (see above).
