In keeping with the commitment of the American College of Chest Physicians (CHEST) to be the home of the clinician educator, and supporting CHEST’s strategic vision of advancing best patient outcomes through innovative chest medicine education, a new designation intended to provide national-level recognition of excellence in continuing medical education has been established—the Distinguished CHEST Educator.
This distinction places the designees within the top 5% of CHEST’s international faculty and recognizes the achievements of members who have made significant and long-term contributions to the design and delivery of CHEST education by serving as CHEST committee chairs, vice-chairs, faculty, members, and peer reviewers for programs and activities such as CHEST Annual Meeting, live learning, and simulation programs.
Designees will be entitled to list their designation on CVs and all other applicable channels as “Distinguished CHEST Educator, year awarded.”
The Distinguished CHEST Educator designation will be granted to select clinical educators each year at the CHEST Annual Meeting, beginning at this year’s meeting in Toronto, Canada, October 28 to November 1, 2017. A list of the first class of designees will be posted in November.
