Your 24-Hour Day Trip Guide in San Antonio for CHEST 2018

Only have 24 hours in San Antonio for #CHEST2018 and want to make the most of it? Don’t worry; we’ve got you covered! While most of your time will be spent checking out sessions, we’re sure you can still take some time to yourself to explore this wonderful city!

6:30 am Rise and shine! Wake up bright and early to catch the sunrise and get prepared for your busy day ahead. Snag a table at The River’s Edge located in Hilton Palacio del Rio and enjoy their breakfast buffet! Once you’ve gotten your fix, walk off all of those chorizo-filled omelets and head to the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center for CHEST 2018 to begin your day of learning.

*Note: If you’re staying near the RiverWalk, many of the attractions, including the Convention Center, will be a short walking distance. Otherwise, we suggest taking an Uber or Lyft to reach your destination!

12:00 pm Venture outside of the convention center and head toward the RiverWalk. The area is a top attraction in San Antonio and a 5-minute walk from the convention center. With a long list of restaurants, activities, and beautiful scenery, you’re sure to find something to do. Hungry? Be sure to grab lunch at Boudro’s, a Texas bistro serving up wood-grilled steaks, seafood, and tableside guacamole on a beautiful patio. If you have a little more time to burn, be sure to check out the historical tours and boat rides that occur daily.

7:00 pm After a long day at the convention center, it’s only right you treat yourself to a wholesome dinner and a drink. Take a 9-minute Uber ride down to La Fonda on Main to experience the oldest Mexican restaurant in San Antonio. Settle down and grab a drink (or two) and a bite to eat, all while enjoying the lively atmosphere!

After you’ve fueled up, be sure to take a short trip to visit the biggest tourist attraction in the city: The Alamo! While you won’t be able to venture in the building after 7 pm, you’ll be sure to capture beautiful pictures of Alamo when all of the beautiful lights turn on or by signing up for a walking tour. If you’re lucky, you may see a few horse carriages passing by the building.

9:00 pm As your day comes to an end, take some time to admire the gorgeous city that is San Antonio. End your night at the rooftop bar Paramour, located 6 minutes from Alamo Plaza. With the wonderful view from the top of the bar, you’ll be sure to see the whole city and how even more beautiful the city becomes at night.
