Tele-healthcare in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine – Current and Future Practice

October 18, 2020 @ 7:30 am - 8:30 am CDT

Tele-medicine is rapidly being integrated into routine practice. Workforce limitations, geographic challenges, and advances in technology have resulted in widespread application and acceptance of Tele-ICU provision of critical care – what have we learned about its benefits and downsides after two decades of this practice? Tele-medicine in the ambulatory setting is headed in the same direction. Technology and public policy are converging to open the arena of ambulatory tele-medicine, with potential benefits in access to care, physician efficiency, and patient satisfaction. What are the possibilities and implications of tele-health in ambulatory pulmonary medicine?

Learning Objectives:

  • Learn the current status of ambulatory telehealth as applicable to pulmonary medicine.
  • Understand the benefits and downsides of critical care delivered by tele-ICU.
