Acute Respiratory Failure: A Simulation Exercise
October 21, 2021 - October 1, 2022
This simulation-based session will focus on the understanding and respiratory management of the patient with acute respiratory failure beginning with community-acquired pneumonia to acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). Prerecorded clinical simulation scenarios will be presented and stopped for live polling of the audience for next steps in clinical decision-making. Faculty panel will provide clinical input along the way to augment the various approaches and options available for a live and interactive discussion. This will be followed by an explanation of the best answer and faculty comments of clinical correlations.
- 1. Recognize worsening respiratory failure in patients with pulmonary disorders.
- 2. Develop respiratory management strategies based on key physiologic principles.
- 3. Adjust management strategies of acute respiratory failure in the presence of changing patient physiology.
