PALs United for Lung Health Advocacy Roundtable at CHEST 2018

October 4, 2018 by Vanessa Claude

Please join the CHEST Foundation in San Antonio for the PALs United for Lung Health Advocacy Roundtable. This roundtable will bring together a select group of lung health advocacy and policy leaders to build upon the engagement started at the inaugural PALs United for Lung Health event held in Washington, DC, in October 2017, and furthered at advocacy roundtables at ATS and now the CHEST 2018 meeting. The common goals are to raise the profile of lung disease and advance patient-centered solutions.

The concept of a patient advocacy leader summit (PALs) was developed in 2002 as a way of bringing together diverse patient advocacy leaders to improve their advocacy capacity and identify ways to collaborate and unify the voices of many. PALs United for Lung Health was developed and executed by a steering committee and planning team comprising national lung health advocates and other key stakeholders, subscribing to a key PALs principle that programming is created “By Advocates, For Advocates.

PALs was designed to raise and accelerate the dialogue and development of strategies for improving important policy priorities in lung health and identify common goals and action steps to collaboratively advance patient-centered solutions relating to access to care, services, and innovations in lung health.

During this 90-minute roundtable, the two topics of focus are:

  1. The importance of biomarker testing/personalized medicine
  2. Shared-decision making
